Live and Work in One of the World’s Most Peaceful Countries

New Zealand offers excellent work opportunities for skilled professionals and unskilled workers.
With simplified immigration pathways like the Green List, Accredited Employer Work Visa, and various sector agreements, it’s now easier to start a new life in New Zealand!

At AJ Habib & Associates, we guide you through the complete process — from finding job offers to successfully obtaining your visa.

Work Visa Programs We Support

🔹 1. Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)

  • For candidates who have a valid job offer from an accredited New Zealand employer.
  • Covers both skilled and semi-skilled occupations.

Key Points:
✅ No labor market test needed for Green List occupations
✅ Minimum salary requirement: NZD 29.66/hour (as of 2025) for most roles
✅ Duration: Up to 5 years, renewable

🔹 2. Green List Pathway (Fast-Track to Residency)

New Zealand has a Green List of high-demand occupations (for example: Nurses, Engineers, IT Specialists, Construction Managers, Electricians, etc.).

  • Tier 1 Green List: Direct Residence Pathway (Apply for PR after arriving!)
  • Tier 2 Green List: Apply for Work Visa first → Apply for PR after 2 years.

Examples of Green List Jobs:

  • Healthcare (Doctors, Nurses, Midwives)
  • Engineering (Civil, Structural, Electrical)
  • ICT (Software Engineers, Developers)
  • Construction (Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers)
  • Agriculture (Farm Managers)

Note: Employers hiring for Green List roles do not need to advertise locally!

🔹 3. Sector Agreements for Unskilled/General Workers

New Zealand also allows limited numbers of unskilled workers under special sector agreements.

Industries Covered:

  • Agriculture and Dairy Farming
  • Meat Processing and Seafood Processing
  • Tourism and Hospitality
  • Construction Labour Roles
  • Aged Care and Disability Support

Minimum Pay for Most Roles:

  • Generally starts at New Zealand median wage or slightly below under approved sector exceptions.

🔹 4. Seasonal Work Visas

  • Short-term work (up to 7 months) mainly in horticulture, viticulture (fruits, vegetables, wine industries).
  • No long-term pathway, but can be a first step towards permanent opportunities.

English Language Requirements

✅ For Skilled Work Visas (AEWV / Green List):

  • IELTS General or Academic: Overall band 6.0 minimum
  • Some roles (like trade jobs) may accept lower scores if supported by employer.

✅ For Unskilled/Sector Agreement Roles:

  • Many unskilled worker visas DO NOT require IELTS if employer agrees and offers full support.
  • However, basic English communication ability will still be tested informally.

✅ For Permanent Residency Application (after 2 years):

  • IELTS overall 6.5 or equivalent usually required.

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Valid full-time job offer from an accredited employer
  • Relevant qualifications, experience, or skills matching the role
  • Good health (Medical Clearance)
  • Good character (Police Clearance)
  • Ability to meet minimum income thresholds where applicable
